TEST TOMORROW!!!

Hey every1! No 1 has been posting so I thought I'd get us going again. .
Today in class Ms. K. went over the answers for the "Advanced Forces" assignment sheet she gave us the other day, on the Smart board. (Check out the link on the last post.) This was after we went over the answers for the "Using Concepts" on the boards in class.
The answers for those were:
1. m = 250 kg
2. F = 3000 N
3. m = 5 kg
4. coeffiecient of sliding friction = 0.255 (no units for this 1 !remember!)
5. acceleration = -2 m/s^2
skip 6
7. a = 3.267 N/kg
other side:
1a) acceleration = 4.9m/s^2
2. max acceleration = 0.2 m/s^2
3. coefficient of sliding friction = 0.4

Then Ms. K. gave gave us another assignment sheet to do. err.. & i think that was all =S
Hope I'm not missing anything! STUDY HARD! + good luck 2morrow!!!

oh ya.. and the next scribe is H2O .. try 2 post this time!

Dynamics - Forces on an Inclined Plane and Forces in Two Dimensions

Hey everyone it's xxcoolguyxx scribing for today! I apologize for the late post. Anyways on Thursday, the class started off answering the questions from p.196 #'s 1-4. Then, we answered Chapter 7 Study Guide. The answers are below this post.

Homework is Chapter 5 Review and Enrichment!

I guess that's everything we did on Thursday.

I hope everyone had a nice long weekend! ^_^

STUDY PERIOD.....sweet.

Hi everyone,
(A lil late????? Sorry, just getting the hang of things here!!)

Well, NO TEACHING was done in class on Feb 20, we had a STUDY PERIOD in which we were told to:

STUDY page 194-196

DO problems 1-4 on p.196.

It's been great pleasure scribing for today as you can see, there's nothing much to write.

Equilibrium Problems and Inclined Planes

We had a lot done in class today. First, we continued in going through the PHYSICS 40S INTRODUCTORY UNIT WORKSHEET: VECTORS (numbers 4-8). Next, we went through the questions at the last page of the DYNAMICS UNIT-EQUILIBRIUM handout. ALL ANSWERS ARE ON THE SLIDES POSTED BY MS. K.

After going through the sheets, Ms. K started discussing about INCLINED PLANES. After that, she told us to read pages 194-196 from the book and solve the problems on page 196, 1-4.

Here are the questions:

1.A copy of Physics: Concepts and Connections leaves the printing press and slides down a 4.0-m-long ramp into the arms of an eager physics student. If the ramp is inclined at an angle of 250 to the horizontal and has a coefficient of kinetic friction of 0.10, how long will it take the 2.0-kg textbook to reach the student?

2.The plastic case from your least-favourite CD recording is flung up a frictionless ramp, inclined at an angle of 200 to the horizontal. If the case leaves your hand at a speed of 4.0 m/s, how long will it take before the case comes to rest?

3.A skateboarder slides down a frictionless ramp inclined at an angle of 300 to the horizontal. He then slides across a frictionless horizontal floor and begins to slide up a second incline at an angle of 250 to the horizontal. The skateboarder starts at a distance of 10m from the bottom of the first incline. How far up the 2nd incline will he go if the coefficient of kinetic friction on the 2nd incline is 0.10?

4.Batman is driving the Batmobile down a hill coming from the Bat cave. The hill is inclined at an angle of 300 to the horizontal and has a coefficient of kinetic friction of 0.28. What force must the Batmobile’s engine apply to cause the Batmobile to accelerate at 0.60g?

The DYNAMICS SHEET IS DUE ON THURSDAY guys!!!
That’s all for today/tonight… have a good night. =)

STATIC EQUILIBRIUM-

this is 90039305...last Friday..as we got in to Physics class we first discussed the static equilibrium with the worksheet she gave us couple of days ago.(chapter 4: Newton's second law- forces and acceleration)..the Nellie newton law..

Static Equilibrium occurs when the net force is Zero..

After that, we answered all together the long sheet numbers 1-4 (answers were been posted by Ms.K) then the rest are practices for us..Then Ms.K hand out new worksheet, to be hand in on Wednesday. 5items assignment..
and thats all..

sorry for the delayed..
i hope you guys are enjoying your long weekend.=))

the next scribe is AEBE.

lets all enjoy our rest day.and get ready for tomorrow!see you guys!

FBD 02-14-08

As of today's class, Ms. K is back and we corrected our first test that we did last tuesday which is the acceleration test. You can check the answers that Ms. K had posted. I think Ms. K is still sick so THANK YOU for the effort. Next thing, she discuss a little about Free Body Diagram and as you can see at the bottom, the slide tells us that in the 1st case, the car was just steady on the ground; 2nd case, the car is moving at constant speed; and 3rd case, the car is moving to the left and its speed is increasing.
We also corrected the front page of the FBD sheet that we received yesterday and handed in the back of the page. I think that's all for today. I got to go=)
Happy Valentines Day!!!
next scribe, as she wished, is...90039305.

02/11/08 - Scribe Post

Lets start off the blogging. Today in Physics, we went over the sheet entitled "Physics 40S Relative Motion" dealing with the cases. Here are the answers:

Case One - 135 Km/h [E]

Case Two - a) 250 Km/h [W]
b) 250 Km/h [E]

Case Three - a) 10 Km/h [W]
b) 10 Km/h [E] or -10 Km/h
c) 70 Km/h [W]

Now that is finished, what comes next...Ah! Ms. K handed a sheet entitled "Physics 40S Acceleration Problems" or as Ms. K liked to characterize it as "The Donovan Bailey Worksheet".

It was a normal day in Physics. Pretty boring. By the way, there is a test tomorrow. Also, the next scribe is CowMilk. Cool name. VN power!!!

Study hard.

Scribe Post

Hello!

To start things off in today's class Ms K handed out "Acceleration assignment", which is due on MONDAY.
She then after got a few of us to "warm up" with visual examples of;
  • Two moving "cars"(students) and one "cop". Car A moving at 4 mph and Car B at 10mph. Ms K used problem scenarios for us to determine the speed of an object, under different reference frames.
Ex) Car A and Car B are moving in opposite directions.
A cop car is sitting perpendicularly to both of the cars, what speed does the cop read for Car B?
What is the speed of Car B in reference to Car A?
  • She then used a "current" that was 3 mph, and then a "swimmer" at 4 mph (I'm not exactly sure if those were the mph numbers, probably not :P) And again asked us relating questions.
By observing people act out the possible moving velocity problems enables us to really think and understand the concept a lot better than just reading and viewing pictures in the textbook.
And for the rest of the class we worked on the textbook questions from the day before and got two more worksheets, which from what I believe we will be going over tomorrow.

NEXT SCRIBE IS: NT*
have fun:)
OH ~ and Happy Chinese New Year! Wish you all much luck and success in the future... especially in physics ;)

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Hello fellow classmates this is AznFlame and I will be scribing today. Well today in class we went over and corrected the Gr.12 Physics Acceleration assignment and the Physics 40S Acceleration questions on the board. we also had to read a few pages from the text book pages 95-103(not sure), and got a worksheet from Ms. K on relative velocities.

Scribe List

This is The Scribe List. Every possible scribe in our class is listed here. This list will be updated every day. If you see someone's name crossed off on this list then you CANNOT choose them as the scribe for the next class.

This post can be quickly accessed from the [Links] list over there on the right hand sidebar. Check here before you choose a scribe for tomorrow's class when it is your turn to do so.
