I noticed that no one has blogged for a long time ... A week, actually? So I will blog for today's class because I can't remember that far back... Yesterday, however, the class was taken up by the spirit week event. Yay school spirit~

Anyway... In class, we went over the Chapter 7 Study Guide, Periodic Motion; CIRCULAR MOTION.
Answers: constant, changing, changing, constant, perpendicular, tangent, instantaneous velocity, length, direction, radius, centre, centripetal, directly, inversely, second, force, centripetal force, straight, and tangent.

That was the only paragraph we went over.

We then looked at the free body diagrams worksheet, you may refer to the "Free Body Diagrams-Circular Motion" slide uploaded by Ms K.

After that she wrote us an assignment to do from the "duck book" textbook.
Which was to read p. 202-206, and do problems 1-5 on page 206.
She also wrote - Note: derivation of formula on p.205

If you didn't bring a textbook home, here's one question you can try:
The outer edge of a 120-mm-diameter CD-ROM experiences an acceleration of 1.6 m/s². What is the speed of the CD-ROM?

Reading the textbook would really help, because it stated that
V = d/t (velocity equals distance over time)
can be modified to
V = c/t (velocity equals circumference over time).
And since C = 2πr (circumference equals two times pi times radius), therefore,
V = 2πr/t

So that's all we did in class. I believe our catapult projectile motion project has been pushed to Thursday because of the talent show tomorrow. Yay~

Scribe Post for March 18

Hi, Evan here, today we went over Chapter 7 Review (#1-4) and got our Chapter 7 Lab sheets back. We also reviewed the formulas for Projectile Motion for the test tomorrow. Test is tomorrow so remember to study, good luck on the test everyone.

PROJECTILE MOTION

Hey guys, it's Elizabeth

Today, Ms. K was not in class and we had a sub. We did the correction for of chap.7 Study Guide and the Projectile Motion (1&2) worksheet. The sub gave us one more review questions, he did the first question & I believe that we'll go over the rest of the questions tomorrow. That's all for today and yeah don't forget the test on Wednsday. GOOD LUCK!

Scribe for March 12!

Hi it's Stephanie!
Ok, lets get straight to it. First thing we did was hand in all our worksheets. that were suppose to be handed in. Then we did a Lab with a ruler and coins. I believed it was called
horizontal and vertical components, but im not too sure. After we did the lab we answered the questions and handed it in. Then Ms.K gave us some more worksheets to do; chapter 7 study guide and tossed ball. And we'll be correcting them soon! I believe thats all we did today! And don't forget no school tomorrow! k night guys!

Scribe for Tuesday March 11

Hey it's Kevin. Today in class we got the answers for the Conservation of Momentum worksheet. The rest of the class we worked on the worksheets due tomorrow Wednesday March 12 before class.

Remember to hand in :
Question 5 from Conservation of Momentum Worksheet
Chapter 9 Review
Chapter 9 Reteaching
Momentum in Two Dimensions Lab

Scribe Post for March 10th

So its Justus here, doing a slightly overdue blog for yesterdays class. Anyways to begin the class we went over and corrected many of the worksheets we had ben handed out on friday/last week (I believe it was.) Worksheets corrected included, the Chapter 7: Momentum paper (the one that had the Granny and Ambrose problem on it.), the Chapter 9 Study Guide (the fill in the blank worksheet we had worked on previously), Section 9.1 Study Guide: Impulse and Momentum (the sheet with the force time graph and the trucks on the second page.) Well also did the Impulse and Momentum sheet which had the four questions on the front , and 5 conservation of momentum questions on the back.

That about sums it up I think. We also had to hand in our lab if you didnt do that on Friday.
So thats all for now, ciao!

Friday March 7th Post

Hey guys it's Albert. On Friday I believe we did a lab on the conservation of momentum, one object colliding with another. We rolled a sphere down a little ramp colliding with another sphere at the end of the ramp, set up at an angle either to the left or to the right. I'm pretty sure we'll be going over the Impulse and Momentum and Chapter 9 Study Guide sheets so have those ready for Monday. Other than that, there's no homework. Hope you guys had a good weekend, I sure did! Next scribe is Kevin

1 - Thursday, March 6, Scribe

Today's class there was a brief over view of momentum. The overhead will be uploaded later.

This was what Ms. K. went over on the smart board.

There was a few worksheets which needs to be worked on:
Chapter 9: Study Guide
Chapter 7: Momentum
9: Study Guide
Impulse and Momentum

Scribe Post For Monday March 3, 2008

Hey everyone it's Robert here and I'm picking up some slack for Monday's scribe post.

On Monday we came into class with a nice start to the week. We got to watch a movie on momentum. We were instructed by Mrs. K to take down 5 points that we learned during the movie. These are the ones that i took down just in case someone missed out:

- the higher the mass of an object moving at the same speed, the more momentum

- momentum=m*v

- a = F/m a=chg in v/t
F t = chg in (m*v)
F t = delta m*v
impulse = delta momentum

- doubling the time of the force, doubles the momentum

- you can change the momentum of an object with an impulse (big force, small time) or (smaller force, longer time)

- short time to stop object means larger force

- Big time to stop object means smaller force

Well that is it for this scribe and I'll see you guys back in class tomorrow. The scribe for today with choose tomorrow's scribe.

My very late.....blog post

This post it is going to be for Tuesday March 4th. On Tuesday we went over the first part of the chapter 9 study guide. Ms. K said that we will be going over the Conservation of Momentum another day so have it done anyway. We were also assigned questions 50 -51 on pages 308-309 in the duck book, answers to the questions are located in the back if you would like to check.
My next post won't be late lol

Hi guys sorry I'm late .
On Thursday we were doing the lab about friction.
On Friday we did the test about Dynamics.  And don't forget to read Chapter 9 in the Green Book.
That's all.
