the day before the test (space exploration)

hey everyone! =) aebe here...
and this is what we did today.

first, we went over the problems on page 172 ( #'s 17,20,21,22,27) and here are the answers:

after doing the problems, ms. k went over the hand out GRADE 12 PHYSICS: GRAVITY AND APPARENT WEIGHT. then we had the review for the test tomorrow. the class ended of with ms. k showing us a video (i forgot the title.. sorry).

oh yeah... it wasn't shown in the slides... but i think ms. k said to read/study/review micro-gravity, hazzards, space exploration and why is the satellite stay in orbit.

TGIF

Wow I thought the week would NEVER finish. But it's Friday now! :D and I almost forgot that I was scribe. ^_^"

So in today's class we went over a lot of problems/worksheets. For most of the worksheets Ms. K wrote the answers on the smartboard and posted it up below this scribe post.

We also went over the green textbook questions on the white board. I didn't get all the answers down.. I apologize.
But for number 6, 7 and 13 you use the F=Gm1m2/R² formula
Number 18 you use m=4π²R³/GT²
Answers that I do have;
#7: 4.17 x 10²³ N
#13: m1 = 0.37kg, m2 = 0.74 kg
#18: 5.65 x 1026 kg

She then assigned more problems for us to do from the same page (172), numbers 17, 20, 21, 22 and 27 in the green textbook.

We then watched Febi and Elizabeth's Hubble Telescope presentation, nice.
And that was the end of class!

Satellite Motion

The class started off watching Mr. Same Same guy talking about Satellite motion. We were told to write 5 points while watching. Then we picked 3 sheets, The Falling Moon, Artificial Satellite, and Satellite Motion. I guess that’s it for today. Next scribe for tomorrow will be Jadanet as she requested ^_^.

Space Exploration

Hello everyone and I am your scribe for today! Andrew and Tang started off the class by presenting their project about Disaster of Space Exploration. Followed by Hanzel with his Space Exploration project. Then we had a short break and Ms. K gave us a sheet called Physical Gravity and Apparent Weight. We also went over the questions in Chapter 8 review sheet.

After going over the answers, presentations were continued, Kevin presented his project about the Exploration of Mars. Then Ms. K ended the class by discussing the Mass of a Central Object and Radius of Motion o a Satellite.

Ms. K was back and we continued the presentations. Thanks to Jordan's laptop for the presentation. There are still few people who didn't present yet so i guess some of our time on wed will be spend for presentations again. There's only two presentations for today so for the rest of our class time, we went over the solutions for Gravitational fields worksheet.

Monday's class, Ms. K was away and Mr Harrison was the sub for her. At first, we just went over the answers for the universal law of gravitation sheet and here's the answer:

The Scribe

So, for this physics class on this lovely, beautiful...Wednesday, We had a substitute teacher (and I know it’s not the Ukrainian Easter), anyhow I believe his name was Mr. “B” and he claimed to know about physics and he sure sounded like it. First, we went over the Gravitational Potential Energy Questions that not many people managed to accomplish Tuesday night. I will not type out every step so people can learn them for there selves, but I will give the answers so the people who weren’t here today, (when I say everyone, I clearly mean Kevin).


So here are the answers:

After we finished off with the worksheet, we were showered with a thousand more... a booklet titled 14.5 Escape Speed, and two others with a number of questions called Universal Law of gravity and Gravitational Field’s worksheet. So I’m assuming that we are supposed to have those done for like Thursday and Friday BECAUSE OUR PRESENTATIONS ARE DUE:

Scribe Post #3

Well since there looks like there has been a slump in the scribing over the last couple of days I think this is a good time to finish up my last scribe post.

Today in class we started off by getting back our Circular Motion & Work and Energy tests. We then went over the answers with Mrs. K and made sure we had the correct answers.

We then moved onto watching a video. The name of it was "Kepler's Three Laws." After watching that and answering the question sheet, we went over the correct answers for that.

"Kepler's Three Laws."

1. Each planets path is an ellipse and each planet moves around the sun which is called the focus.

2. The imaginary line from the sun to a planet sweaps out equal areas in equal time intervals. Planets move faster when closer to the sun and slower when farthest from the sun.

3. The ratio of the squares of the periods of any two planets revolving about the sun is equal to the ratio of the cubes of their average distances from the sun.

The video took the greater part of the class and we were left with about 20 minutes to finish up Study Guide 8. Also those who missed the lab yesterday were given time to finish that up.
